NPC warns public against fake recruitment website

Abuja, Nigeria – January 30, 2025 – The National Population Commission (NPC) has issued a public warning regarding a fraudulent website that falsely claims to be recruiting Ad-hoc staff for the upcoming 2025 Population and Housing Census.
The website, found at https://qpetition.org/NPC-Ad-Hoc-Staff-Recruitinent.html, is reportedly the work of mischief makers aiming to deceive unsuspecting citizens.
In an official statement today, Erelu Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba, Director of Public Affairs at the NPC, clarified recruitment status.
She emphasized that the Commission is not currently conducting any recruitment for census-related positions.
Furthermore, Oloruntoba highlighted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not announced a proclamation date for the upcoming Population and Housing Census.
This delay raises questions about the timeline for this important national exercise.
Moreover, this proclamation is a prerequisite for any recruitment activities.
“The NPC wishes to inform the public that no recruitment exercise for Ad-hoc staff is ongoing at this time,” Oloruntoba stated.
Consequently, the organization aims to prevent any misinformation regarding staffing opportunities.
Additionally, she highlighted that any recruitment associated with the census will be officially communicated through national media outlets.
Moreover, the NPC’s official platforms will also provide announcements to ensure widespread awareness and transparency.
The Commission has urged the public to disregard misleading information circulating online.
They also urged citizens to remain alert to potential scams that may arise in the digital landscape.
Oloruntoba reassured Nigerians that the NPC is actively investigating the origins of the fraudulent website to ensure accountability.
“Nigerians are encouraged to verify information regarding the Commission’s activities through our official channels,” she concluded.
Additionally, she emphasized their commitment to providing timely updates on the upcoming biometric Population and Housing Census.
Furthermore, she assured that updates will be provided as developments unfold.
The NPC also called for public support in ensuring a successful census exercise, which is vital for national planning and development.
Additionally, as the Commission prepares for the census, it is crucial that citizens remain informed and cautious to prevent falling victim to swindlers.
To receive accurate updates, the NPC encourages the general public to consistently follow their official social media handles.
Additionally, they recommend visiting their website regularly for the latest information and announcements.
